Here are answers to common questions about quotation, package scope, drawings, installation, and future expansion for steel warehouse projects.

1. What information do I need to get a warehouse quotation?
To prepare a more accurate quotation, we usually need your project location, building size (length × width × eave height), intended use, door requirements, roof and wall preference, and whether insulation is needed. If you already know local wind or snow loads, that will also help us recommend a more suitable building solution.
2. Can you customize the warehouse size and layout?
Yes. Our steel warehouse buildings are customized according to your required dimensions, layout needs, and project use rather than using one fixed standard design. We can adjust the span, length, height, door positions, and other key details based on your project requirements.
3. Can the building be designed for local wind and snow loads?
Yes. The warehouse structure can be designed according to the local wind load, snow load, and other relevant project conditions you provide. Sharing the project location or design criteria at the inquiry stage helps us recommend a more suitable structural configuration.
4. What is included in a typical steel warehouse package?
A typical warehouse package may include the primary steel frame, secondary framing, roof and wall cladding, fasteners, trims, flashing, gutters, downpipes, and other related accessories. Doors, windows, skylight panels, ventilation options, and insulation materials can also be included depending on the confirmed project scope.
5. Can I choose insulated roof and wall panels?
Yes. We can offer different roof and wall cladding options, including insulated sandwich panels, based on your project use, local climate, and thermal performance requirements. The final panel type and thickness can be selected according to your budget and building needs.
6. Do you provide drawings for fabrication and installation?
Yes. Depending on the project scope, we can provide general arrangement drawings, erection drawings, and member details to support fabrication confirmation and installation coordination. These documents help your team better understand the building layout and assembly requirements before shipment and erection.
7. Do you provide foundation drawings?
We can coordinate foundation-related information according to the project, but the final foundation design should be checked against local soil conditions, site requirements, and local engineering standards. In most cases, the local foundation work is handled by the client’s local engineer or contractor.
8. Do you provide installation service?
Most customers arrange installation with their local contractor or construction team. Our main scope usually focuses on drawings, steel fabrication, export packing, and remote technical support to help coordinate the installation process more smoothly.
9. How long does production usually take?
Production time depends on the building size, technical complexity, order details, and factory schedule. After the project scope and drawings are confirmed, we can provide a more specific production timeline based on your actual requirements.
10. Can the warehouse be expanded in the future?
In many cases, yes. If future expansion is part of your plan, it is best to mention it at the beginning of the project so the initial layout and structural design can take that possibility into account.

How Much Does It Cost to Build a Warehouse?

Why Understanding Cost Matters

Before starting a steel structure warehouse project, securing suitable land and confirming site conditions come first. Once the site is ready, building cost becomes the next key question for investors and project owners. A clear cost framework supports budgeting, ROI planning, and accurate procurement decisions, while reducing the risk of scope changes later.

What’s Included in Our Package

At Vizsteel, we offer a full-package prefabricated steel warehouse solution. Our standard scope includes:

  • Main & Secondary Steel Structure
Primary frames, bracing, purlins, and girts engineered to your layout and local loads.

  • Roof & Wall Panel Systems
Durable cladding options, including insulated panels when thermal performance is required.

  • Doors, Windows & Accessories
Roll-up doors, personnel doors, ventilation parts, trims, and connection hardware as specified.

  • Drawings for Installation
Building drawings and erection drawings to support accurate on-site assembly.

Partial supply is available (steel structure only, panels only, or customized scope).

Factory production costs Estimate: $30–$60/m² (Approximate)

As a general reference, the factory package (EXW, steel structure + cladding + accessories) cost for a standard steel warehouse may fall in the range of $30–$60/m² (reference only). This estimate typically covers the prefabricated building package from our factory and does not include foundations, local installation labor, permits/approvals, taxes, or inland delivery to the jobsite.

🔸 Wind load, snow load, seismic requirements, etc.
🔸 Building span, height, and number of floors
🔸 Special functions like cranes or fire-resistant materials
🔸 Steel material price fluctuations

Logistics Costs: From Factory to Port and Beyond

Our factory is located in Shandong, China, with shipments made from either Qingdao Port or Tianjin Port. Standard offers are made FOB (Free On Board)、CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight), but we also support:DDP may be available for select destinations depending on local clearance requirements and shipping feasibility.

Sea freight rates vary significantly depending on the destination port and shipping season. For accurate delivery quotes, please provide your destination port when inquiring.

As a rough guide, estimated 40ft container sea freight costs from China (Qingdao or Tianjin Port) are:

🔸 Southeast Asia: $800 – $1,800

🔸 Europe: $2,000 – $4,000

🔸 South America: $2,300 – $4,000

🔸 Africa: $2,000 – $3,500

🔸 Oceania (e.g., Australia, New Zealand): $2,000 – $3,000.

For reference, one recent 2,000 m² warehouse project equipped with insulation panels required around 10×40ft containers. However, container quantity can vary depending on your final material scope (steel structure only vs. full enclosure), panel type, accessories, and packing plan. The final number is confirmed based on the BOM and loading arrangement.

Local Construction Costs: On-site Labor Considerations

Most of our customers choose to hire a local construction team for installation, so you need to inquire about the installation price of local workers. To support them, we provide the following services:

Complete installation drawings

Remote video guidance by our engineers

On-site guidance can be arranged (additional cost, subject to travel feasibility).
Most clients hire local installers, and we support them with drawings and remote technical guidance.
